Dermal Fillers in Lincoln Park, Chicago: Natural Results from Expert Injectors

Multiple filler brands. Area-specific expertise. Results that look like you, only refreshed.

You have been thinking about dermal fillers for a while. Maybe your cheeks have lost some of their fullness. Maybe the lines running from your nose to your mouth have gotten deeper. Maybe you just want a little more definition in your chin or jawline without going under the knife.

Whatever brought you here, you are probably weighing a few big questions. Which filler type is right for my face? How much does it cost? Will it actually look natural? Those are exactly the questions this page is built to answer.

Better Med Spa & Wellness in Lincoln Park, Chicago offers a full range of dermal filler treatments, from hyaluronic acid fillers to biostimulators to plasma-based options. Every treatment plan is customized to your anatomy and goals by experienced, certified injectors under the supervision of our Medical Director, Dr. Brett Brechner, DO.

What Are Dermal Fillers and How Do They Work?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels placed beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines, and improve facial contour. They are one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments in the country, and for good reason: the results are immediate, the downtime is minimal, and the right injector can make them look completely natural.

Most fillers work by adding volume to a specific area. Hyaluronic acid fillers (like Restylane and RHA) use a gel that mimics a substance your body already produces. Once injected, they attract water and plump the tissue from within. Other fillers, like Radiesse, use calcium-based microspheres that provide structure and stimulate your body to build new collagen over time.

There are also biostimulators like Sculptra, which skip the instant-volume approach entirely and instead trigger gradual collagen production over several months. And EZ Gel, a newer option, uses your own blood plasma to create an autologous filler that your body recognizes as its own tissue.

The best filler for you depends on what you want to correct, how long you want results to last, and how your face is structured. That is what a consultation is for. More on that below.

Dermal Filler Treatment Areas at Better Med Spa

Fillers are not one-size-fits-all. Different areas of the face respond best to different products, techniques, and volumes. Here is what we treat most often at our Lincoln Park clinic.

Cheeks and Midface

Volume loss in the cheeks is one of the earliest and most noticeable signs of aging. As the fat pads in your midface thin and shift downward, your cheeks flatten and the area under your eyes can start to look hollow. Cheek filler restores that structure, lifting the midface and improving the overall balance of your features.

Most cheek treatments use 1-2 syringes per side, placed deep along the cheekbone for a lifted, sculpted result. Products like Radiesse and certain Restylane formulations work particularly well here because they provide firm structural support. Results typically last 12-24 months depending on the product used.

Under-Eyes (Tear Trough)

Dark circles and hollowing under the eyes are among the most common concerns we hear about. Tear trough filler carefully placed along the orbital rim can reduce shadowing and smooth the transition between your lower eyelid and cheek. This is one of the most technique-sensitive areas on the face, which is why it should only be done by an experienced injector who understands the delicate anatomy around the eye.

Not everyone is a good candidate for under-eye filler. Factors like skin thickness, the cause of the dark circles, and the degree of hollowing all affect whether filler is the right solution. Sometimes a combination approach (filler plus a skin-quality treatment) gets a better result. Your injector will be honest about what filler can and cannot do for your under-eyes.

Nasolabial Folds

These are the lines that run from the sides of your nose down to the corners of your mouth. Some deepening is natural with age, but when nasolabial fold fillers are placed correctly, they soften the crease without erasing it completely. The goal is a refreshed look, not a frozen one.

Chin and Jawline

Chin filler can add projection, improve profile balance, and create a more defined jawline without surgery. This is one of the fastest-growing filler treatments for both men and women. A small amount of product in the right spot can make a significant difference in how your lower face looks from the side.

Jawline contouring is often done with firmer fillers (like Radiesse or certain Restylane products) that hold their shape well under the strong muscles of the lower face. Many patients combine chin and jawline filler with neurotoxins to the masseter muscle for a slimmer, more contoured result.

Lips

Lip filler adds volume, defines the border, and improves symmetry. At Better Med Spa, we offer full-syringe and half-syringe options depending on how subtle or dramatic you want the result. Most patients start with one syringe and adjust from there.

Hands

Hands age just as visibly as the face, but most people overlook them. Hand filler restores lost volume on the backs of the hands, reducing the visibility of veins and tendons for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Filler Brands We Carry: Choosing the Right Product for Your Goals

Not every filler does the same thing. We carry five distinct product lines at Better Med Spa so your injector can match the right product to the right area of your face. Here is how they compare.

RHA (Resilient Hyaluronic Acid)

What it is: A hyaluronic acid filler designed to move naturally with your facial expressions.

Best for: Lips, nasolabial folds, and areas with a lot of movement.

Lasts: Up to 15 months.

Restylane

What it is: A well-established hyaluronic acid filler known for precise shaping and smooth results.

Best for: Lips, under-eyes, cheeks, and fine lines.

Lasts: 6-12 months depending on the specific product and placement area.

Radiesse

What it is: A calcium hydroxylapatite filler that provides immediate volume and stimulates collagen production over time.

Best for: Cheeks, jawline, hands, and areas where you want both lift and long-term collagen improvement.

Lasts: 12-18 months.

Learn more about Radiesse.

Sculptra

What it is: A poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator. It does not add volume directly. Instead, it triggers your body to rebuild its own collagen gradually over 2-6 months.

Best for: Broad volume loss in cheeks, temples, and jawline. Patients who want gradual, natural-looking results.

Lasts: 2+ years.

Learn more about Sculptra.

EZ Gel (Natural Plasma Filler)

What it is: An autologous filler made from your own blood plasma (concentrated PRP/PRF). Because it comes from your body, there is zero risk of allergic reaction.

Best for: Under-eyes, skin rejuvenation, patients who prefer a fully natural product.

Lasts: 3-6 months.

Most patients do not need to choose a brand on their own. Your injector will recommend the best option (or combination of options) based on your goals, facial structure, and budget during your consultation.

Is Dermal Filler Right for You?

Fillers are a good fit if you:

  • Have noticed volume loss in your cheeks, temples, under-eyes, or lips over the past few years
  • Want to soften lines or folds without surgery
  • Are looking for results that are visible right away (with most filler types)
  • Prefer a treatment you can do on a lunch break with little to no downtime
  • Want something that looks natural and can be adjusted over time

Fillers may not be the best choice if you:

  • Are looking to address skin texture, pores, or surface-level concerns (a treatment like RF microneedling may be more effective)
  • Want to reduce movement-based wrinkles like forehead lines or crow's feet (Botox or Dysport is better suited for those)
  • Have active skin infections or certain autoimmune conditions in the treatment area
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

Not sure where you fall? That is completely normal. Many of our Chicago patients come in thinking they need one thing and leave with a different (and better) plan after their consultation.

Why Chicago Clients Choose Better Med Spa for Fillers

There are a lot of places offering dermal fillers in Chicago. Here is what sets Better Med Spa apart.

Multiple filler brands, not just one. Many clinics carry a single brand and use it for everything. We stock RHA, Restylane, Radiesse, EZ Gel, and Sculptra because different areas of the face respond best to different products. Your injector picks the right tool for the job, not the only tool they have.

Experienced, certified injectors with decades of combined experience. Every filler treatment at Better Med Spa is performed by a trained, certified injector and overseen by our Medical Director, Dr. Brett Brechner, DO. With over 10,000 patients treated across more than 100 unique treatment types, our team has the depth to handle everything from a simple lip touch-up to a full-face restoration.

A layered, K-beauty-inspired approach. Fillers work best when they are part of a bigger plan. Our team often combines fillers with neurotoxins, RF microneedling, or skin-quality treatments for compounding results. Instead of chasing one concern at a time, we build a treatment plan around your face as a whole.

Results you can verify. We have a 4.8-star rating across 128+ reviews. Browse our before-and-after gallery to see real patient results from our Lincoln Park clinic.

Combining Fillers with Other Treatments

Fillers address volume and structure, but they are just one part of the picture. At Better Med Spa, we often combine filler treatments with complementary services for a more complete result.

Fillers + Botox or Dysport. This is the most common combination. Fillers restore volume in the midface and lower face while neurotoxins relax movement-based lines in the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes. Together, they address both structural aging and dynamic wrinkles. Many patients schedule both on the same visit.

Fillers + RF microneedling. Fillers rebuild volume beneath the skin. RF microneedling stimulates collagen at the surface level, improving skin texture, pore size, and overall tightness. The two treatments work at different depths for a more complete rejuvenation. This pairing is especially effective for patients dealing with both volume loss and skin laxity.

Fillers + Sculptra. For patients with significant volume loss, a common strategy is to use Sculptra to rebuild the collagen foundation over several months, then refine specific areas (lips, under-eyes, nasolabial folds) with hyaluronic acid fillers. This layered approach tends to produce the most natural-looking, longest-lasting results.

Your injector will recommend whether a single filler treatment or a combination plan makes the most sense for your goals. There is no pressure to do everything at once.

What to Expect During Your Dermal Filler Appointment

Knowing exactly what happens before, during, and after your appointment removes the guesswork. Here is a step-by-step walkthrough.

Step 1: Consultation. Your injector examines your facial structure, asks about your goals, and recommends which filler type, volume, and placement will give you the best result. There is no obligation to proceed. If filler is not the right fit, they will tell you.

Step 2: Numbing. A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area about 15-20 minutes before injection. Most fillers also contain lidocaine mixed into the product itself, so discomfort is minimal.

Step 3: Injection (15-45 minutes). Your injector places the filler using a fine needle or cannula, depending on the area. You may feel light pressure, but most patients describe the process as very tolerable.

Step 4: Immediate results. With hyaluronic acid and calcium-based fillers, you will see a difference right away. There may be mild swelling or redness for 24-48 hours. Bruising is possible but usually minor and easy to cover with makeup. Your injector will give you specific aftercare instructions, but the basics are simple: avoid rubbing the treated area, skip strenuous exercise for 24 hours, and stay out of saunas or steam rooms for a couple of days.

Step 5: Settling period. Most fillers look their absolute best about 1-2 weeks after treatment, once any swelling has resolved and the product has fully integrated with your tissue. This is when you will see the final result.

Step 6: Follow-up. Most patients do not need a follow-up for standard filler treatments. For Sculptra or full-face plans involving multiple sessions, your injector will schedule your next appointment before you leave. We also welcome patients back for a complimentary two-week check-in if they want reassurance about how things are settling.

One important note: hyaluronic acid fillers (RHA, Restylane) are reversible. If you are unhappy with the result for any reason, an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve the filler. This is rare, but knowing it is an option gives many first-time patients peace of mind.

Our clinic is located at 2117 N Halsted St in Lincoln Park, steps from the Armitage Brown Line stop. Appointments fit easily into a lunch break, and you can return to normal activities the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dermal Fillers in Chicago

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure or a slight pinch. We apply a topical numbing cream before injection, and most fillers contain built-in lidocaine. The discomfort is brief and very manageable for the large majority of patients who visit our Lincoln Park clinic.

How long do dermal fillers last?

It depends on the product. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and RHA typically last 6-15 months. Radiesse lasts 12-18 months. Sculptra results can last 2 years or longer. EZ Gel, because it is made from your own plasma, lasts 3-6 months. Your injector will help you choose based on your goals and maintenance preferences.

What is the difference between fillers and Botox?

Fillers add volume and smooth lines caused by lost structure. Botox relaxes muscles that cause movement-based wrinkles like forehead lines and crow's feet. They treat different problems, and many patients in Chicago use both together for a more complete result. Read more in our guide to Botox.

Can dermal fillers be reversed?

Yes, if you receive a hyaluronic acid filler (Restylane, RHA, or EZ Gel). An enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve the filler if needed. Radiesse and Sculptra are not reversible with an enzyme, but they do break down naturally over time. Your injector will discuss this during your consultation.

How many syringes of filler will I need?

It varies by area. Lips usually need one syringe (or a half syringe for a subtle enhancement). Cheeks typically require 1-2 syringes per side. Jawline contouring may use 2-4 syringes total. Your provider at Better Med Spa will give you a specific recommendation and cost estimate before starting.

Is there any downtime after filler?

Very little. You may have mild swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites for 24-48 hours. Bruising is possible but usually minor. Most patients return to their normal routine the same day. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment.

What age should you start getting fillers?

There is no single right age. Some patients in their mid-20s get lip filler for cosmetic enhancement. Others start in their 40s or 50s to address volume loss. The right time is when you notice a change you want to correct. Our Chicago injectors treat patients across a wide age range and tailor every plan individually.

How do I choose the right filler brand?

You do not need to choose on your own. During your consultation, your injector will recommend the best product based on the treatment area, your skin type, and how long you want results to last. Better Med Spa carries five filler lines (RHA, Restylane, Radiesse, EZ Gel, and Sculptra) so your provider can match the right product to your specific anatomy and goals.
